Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman. She is the President and owner-controller of the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. A California native Buss has been raised by an upper class family. Jerry Buss was her father. Jerry Buss started out as a realty tycoon, and then later owned the Lakers. Her parents parted ways in 1972, which caused her to feel like she was neglected. In the year 19 she became the General Manager of Los Angeles Strings, a professional tennis club. The team was later renamed in the Los Angeles Blades, a professional roller-hockey team. She was president of the Great Western Forum before assuming the duties of the vice-president of the Lakers. Her father passed away in 2013, and his control over ownership of the Lakers was passed on to Buss and her five siblings by a trust of the family that gave each sibling an equal vote. she assumed the duties as the president for the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also partner in the ownership of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling organization).
