Whitney Elizabeth Houston is a performer that was born in Newark, New Jersey on the 9th August 1963. Her parents are gospel stars Cissy Houston(n e Emily Lee Drinkard), and John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney's cousin Dionne Warwick sings as well. The mother of Whitney Houston and her daughter started singing professionally in the church of New Hope Baptist of Newark at the age of fifteen years old. The two sang backing vocals for Chaka Khan's track from 1978 Im Every Woman. After that, she began to sing backing vocals with Lou Rawls and Jermaine and even her mother. The singer was first a featured performer for the The New York-based New York Funk band Material. Her vocal quality performance attracted the attention of the major label Arista who signed her in 1983. The first Whitney Houston album was released in the year 1985. It was one of the top-selling album by a musician. From the album, she came out with several hits including Saving the Day, All My Love for You How Are You Going to Know If You're Good to Love And The More Love of All. This helped her achieve seven US Number Ones in a row. She beat even the Beatles. The album sold 3 million copies the first year and 25 million globally. The album won her first six Grammy Awards. The follow-up album released in 1987 Whitney which included the hits What Do Broken Hearts Go and I Wanna Dance With Somebody built the foundation of her popularity, however it was her 1992 movie The Bodyguard (1992) that sealed her place as one of the best-selling artists in history. Even though the movie and performances of the actress were not highly praised, the soundtrack album featuring her rendition of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You was her most popular album and single for a number of months. It sold over 44 million copies worldwide. That same year she was married to Bobby Brown who was a previous New Edition singer. She had their sole daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown on March 23, 1993. At this point that her much documented drug use began and by 1996 she was an everyday user.
Dana Bash also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz is an American anchorwoman for news and reporting and political correspondent for CNN. Her programs on Saturdays include Evans & Novak Late Edition, Inside Politics and Inside Politics.
