Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine, a singer-composer well-known for his distinct blend of soul gospel jazz R&B and R&B. The singer has worked everywhere from Broadway to The Democratic National Convention to the European club and festival scenes. Sunshine is Denise White. She is originally from Chester Pennsylvania, where she started her musical career by playing the piano and singing at church. In Atlanta, she attended Spellman College where her musical training began on Atlanta's R&B Scene. She also lent her voice to the music of The Fighting Temptations. The band was hired as the main keyboardist of Tyler Perry's musical Meet the Browns in 2005. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 for a position as Choral Director of Dreamgirls a theatre production at Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was the subject of national media attention through four performances a day at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was eventually invited to sing for the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
